Terms of service
Plain English — how the service works, what it costs, and what you can expect from us.
These terms apply when you engage Wrought Web (operated by Duncan Davis, sole trader) to build and host a website for your business. By paying the build fee, you agree to these terms. Last updated: April 2026.
What you get
- A professional, mobile-friendly website with all key sections for your business, plus additional pages where needed (e.g., menu, gallery, price list)
- Contact form, Google Maps integration, and links to your social media profiles
- Google Business Profile setup or update
- Basic SEO setup (page titles, meta descriptions, sitemap)
- Secure hosting with SSL certificate
- Domain registration and management (if we register your domain on your behalf)
- Up to 4 revisions per month (content edits, copy changes, small design tweaks, minor additions)
- 2 structural changes per year (new pages, new sections, layout restructures)
- Reasonable revisions during the initial build until you're happy to go live
- A small "Website by Wrought Web" credit in the footer of your site. This is included by default — if you'd prefer it removed, just ask. No charge.
What it costs
Build fee: £99, payable before work begins. Non-refundable once we begin building your site.
Monthly fee: £25/month, starting 30 days after your site goes live. Billed automatically by card.
Domain registration: One domain is included at no extra cost. Additional domains are charged at cost — typically £8–10/year each.
Revisions and changes: Your plan includes 4 revisions per calendar month and 2 structural changes per calendar year. Allowances don't carry over. Beyond these, extra revisions are £25 each and extra structural changes are £50 each. We'll always check with you and get approval before doing any chargeable work — nothing is billed without your say-so.
What counts as a revision: Content edits, copy changes, small design tweaks, minor additions. One delivery = one revision (so batched requests like "update the price, swap the photo, and fix the typo" count as one, not three). Our own bugs, audit fixes, and hosting/SSL/DNS maintenance don't count against your allowance.
What counts as structural: New pages, new sections, layout restructures, or anything touching multiple files meaningfully.
Bespoke work: Anything outside the standard package (booking systems, custom features, integrations, e-commerce, copywriting, logo design) is quoted separately upfront, or charged at £60/hour if hourly is more appropriate.
Add-ons: Any additional services are quoted and agreed separately before work begins. All prices are inclusive of VAT where applicable. Wrought Web is not currently VAT registered.
Business email (optional add-on): A branded mailbox like hello@yourbusiness.com is available at £5 per mailbox per month, added to your monthly invoice. This is only offered when Wrought Web manages your domain through our hosting account — if you keep your domain registered elsewhere, we don't offer email hosting and you can continue using whatever email service you already have. Mailboxes are provided through our business mail provider and administered by Wrought Web on your behalf. On cancellation, or if you later move your domain away, we will export your mailbox contents and assist with migration to another provider.
Minimum term & cancellation
There is a 3-month minimum term from the date your site goes live. After the minimum term, the service continues on a rolling monthly basis — either party can cancel with 30 days' written notice (email is fine).
If you cancel within the minimum term, you may do so with 30 days' notice, but remaining months of the minimum term are payable on cancellation.
On cancellation, your website will be taken offline at the end of your notice period. We'll provide a copy of your website files and transfer your domain to you within 30 days.
If we need to cancel
In the unlikely event we need to close or transfer the service, we'll give you at least 30 days' written notice, provide a full export of your files, and transfer your domain at no cost. Any monthly fees paid beyond the cancellation date will be refunded.
Payment
Monthly payments are collected automatically by card via Stripe. You'll receive an email receipt for each payment.
If a payment fails, we'll notify you and retry the charge. If payment remains outstanding for 30 days, we may temporarily suspend your website. If outstanding for 60 days with no response, we may cancel the service entirely — though we'll still offer to export your files and transfer your domain.
Your content & intellectual property
Your content: Any text, images, logos, or materials you provide remain your property at all times.
Content we create for you: Website copy and any basic text logos we create become your property on delivery.
Website design and code: We retain ownership of the underlying code, design templates, and technical structure. On cancellation, you receive an export of your files for personal use.
In simple terms: everything about your business is yours. The website framework we built it on is ours.
Our responsibilities
- We'll build and maintain your website with reasonable care and skill
- We'll keep your site hosted, secured (SSL), and available — though we can't guarantee 100% uptime
- We'll respond to support and content update requests within 2 business days
- We'll notify you promptly if we become aware of any security issue affecting your site
Our liability
We're not responsible for any loss of business, revenue, or profits arising from your website being unavailable, containing errors, or not generating enquiries or search traffic.
Our total liability for any claim is limited to the fees you've paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim. This doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer.
Data protection
Any personal data submitted through your website (e.g., via contact forms) is forwarded directly to you and is not stored by us. We process this data solely to provide the hosting service — we won't use your customers' data for any other purpose.
We maintain reasonable security measures to protect data in transit. If we become aware of a data breach affecting your site, we'll notify you without delay. On cancellation, we'll delete all data associated with your website within 30 days, unless you request an export.
Starting work & cooling-off period
By paying the build fee and returning the completed questionnaire, you're asking us to begin work immediately. You have the right to cancel within 14 days of agreeing to these terms — however, if we've already begun work at your request, you may not be entitled to a full refund for work completed.
If you cancel before we've begun any work, you'll receive a full refund of the build fee.
Dormant projects
If you pay the build fee but don't provide the required content within 90 days, your project will be marked as dormant. Dormant projects can be reactivated at any time, but we can't guarantee the original turnaround time. The build fee is non-refundable once the questionnaire has been returned and work has commenced.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. Any changes to pricing will be communicated at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after a pricing change constitutes acceptance. If you disagree, you may cancel with 30 days' notice.
Governing law
This agreement is governed by the laws of Northern Ireland. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Northern Ireland.
